Building playful learning tools for Ethiopian languages

Building playful learning tools for Ethiopian languages

Learning software works best when it respects the learner’s language and makes practice easy to return to. Jember is built around that idea: short rounds, clear feedback, and a growing collection of Amharic and English activities.

Start with the script

Ge’ez characters are beautiful, but a new learner needs frequent, low-pressure exposure. Fidel Memory helps learners recognize characters by matching pairs, while Word Build turns recognition into word construction.

Keep the loop short

A useful session does not need to be long. One round can fit between classes, during a commute, or at the end of the day. Points, streaks, and sound cues make progress visible without taking attention away from the language.

Jember will continue to grow with teachers and learners, adding better content and more ways to practice Ethiopian languages together.
